Biography

    Proven to be one of the top long-range shooters ever at Portland State... ranks fifth all-time in three-point percentage (.427) and third in three-pointers made (173) at PSU... also fourth in games played (113) and seventh in assists (298)... led the team and the Big Sky in three-point percentage in 2012-13 (.470), also the second-best mark in PSU history.

2014-15 • SENIOR SEASON
Ranked second on the team in scoring (12.1) and first in assists (3.7)... shot .427 from three-point range (53-124)... led the team in scoring seven times and assists 15 times this season... has career highs for assists, three-point field goals and free throw percentage... ranked 26th in scoring, 15th in three-point percentage and eighth in assists in the Big Sky Conference... became the 18th player in Portland State history to score 1,000 career points and eighth in the Big Sky era... started all 27 games he in, missing one with injury... scored 18 points with five rebounds and four assists in a win over Southern Utah (1/1)... had 19 points and career-high eight assists at Northern Colorado (1/8)... posted a season-high 25 points (9-16 FG, 5-9 3-pt, 2-2 FT) with five assists and four rebounds against Eastern Washington (1/15)... scored 23 points (9-19 FG, 4-11 3-pt, 1-2 FT) with four assists and three rebounds at Idaho (2/12)... totalled 19 points (6-12 FG, 5-8 3-pt, 2-2 FT) with two assists in a win over Northern Colorado (2/21)... tied a career high with eight assists against Sacramento State (2/28). BIG SKY TOURNAMENT: Tied his career-high with 26 points (10-14 FG, 2-4 3-pt, 4-4 FT) and three assists against Sacramento State.


2013-14 • JUNIOR SEASON
Named second team All-Big Sky Conference... played in 29 games, starting 19... missed a few early in the season recovering from pre-season surgery... averaged 11.3 points, 2.8 assists... shot .443 from the field and .802 at the line...  ranked fourth in the Big Sky Conference in three-point percentage (.422)... third on team in scoring, second in assists... averaged  over 14 points per game over last 20 games... set a career-high with 21 points in a triple-overtime win against Montana (1/11)... hit the game winning shot - a three-pointer - with 2.6 seconds left in the third overtime... in the very next game, hit a three-pointer with 42 seconds left in overtime against Sacramento State (1/16) to give the Vikings a six-point lead and basically seal another win... also had a career-high six assists in that game... scored 19 points with six assists in a win over Northern Colorado (1/20)... set another career-high with 26 points in a win at Southern Utah (2/20)... posted 22 points (7-14 FG, 3-7 3-pt, 5-6 FT) and a career-high seven assists in a win at Northern Colorado (3/1)...led team in scoring eight times, assists 13 times... scored in double figures 20 times, three times had 20+ points... BIG SKY TOURNAMENT: Scored 11 points with  two rebounds, two assists and a steal against Montana... had 14 points and two assists against North Dakota.

2012-13 • SOPHOMORE SEASON
Played in all 28 games, starting 17, and averaging 26.6 minutes per game... averaged 7.9 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game... shot .423 from the field, .470 from three-point range and .810 at the line... led the Big Sky Conference in three-point shooting for the full season, hitting 39-83... that mark also ranks as second-best for a season in school history... shot .538 from three-point range over the final 16 games (28-52)... led the team in scoring once and assists eight times... had 11 double-figure scoring games... scored a season-high 14 points against George Fox (12/15), hitting 5-8 from the field and 4-4 from three-point range... matched that with 14 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3-pt FG, 2-2 FT), five rebounds and five assists in a win over Eastern Washington... scored 13 points (5-6 FG, 3-3 3-pt FG) in a win over Northern Arizona (1/12)... posted 13 points (5-9 FG, 3-4 3-pt FG) at Sacramento State (2/9)... grabbed a career-high seven rebounds with 11 points in a win over Southern Utah (2/14).

2011-12 • FRESHMAN SEASON
Proved to be one of the top freshmen in the Big Sky Conference... played in 27 games, starting two... missed two games at start of season as NCAA cleared up eligibility issues... also missed two with a quad injury... averaged 6.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 22 minutes per game... shot .418 from the field, .417 from three-point range and .658 at the line... made 35 three-point field goals... led the team in assists five times... had five double-figure scoring games... scored 13 points (4-6 FG, 3-4 3-pt, 2-4 FT) with six assists and two steals in his first game,  a win over Linfield (11/21)... scored 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3pt) with three assists in a win at Northern Colorado (1/12)... had 11 points with four assists against Montana State (1/26)... scored 14 points (5-9 FG, 4-5 3-pt) at Weber State (2/2)... tallied eight points (2-3 FG, 1-1 3-pt, 3-4 FT) and six assists in a win over Sacramento State (2/15)... posted a career-high 19 points (7-11 FG 5-9 3-pt) in the season finale at Seattle (3/10)... BIG SKY TOURNAMENT: Scored two points with one rebound and one assist against Montana State... had three points and two assists against Weber State.

PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Lettered four times in basketball and three times in football at Walla Walla High School... originally committed to Idaho out of high school, but changed his mind and attended Walla Walla Community College last year... a three-time All-Big 9 performer at Walla Walla High School... three-time Tri-City Herald All-Area MVP, two-time Cascade Division Defensive Player of the Year and 2010 Cascade Division Player of the Year... Washington 4A first team All-State selection... led the Blue Devils to the Big 9 District championship and a berth in the Washington 4A playoffs... was rated as the number two point guard in the state of Washington by Northwesthoops.com and the No. 64 point guard in the nation by ESPN... was also an All-Conference receiver, defensive back and return man in football.

Son of Gary and Dorothy Winston... has one sister, Malynda... undecided major... hobbies are God, family, friends, relaxing and eating... his goal is create a better life for his family and friends.
