Caden Hoffman joined the Portland State Men's Basketball Coach Staff prior to the 2025-26 season.
Head Coach Jase Coburn brought in Hoffman, a former TCU graduate assistant, to be an assistant coach.
“Caden has a very bright future in college basketball,” said Coburn. “He is very intelligent, relates well with the players and works really hard. He comes from a strong basketball background, working with Phil Beckner in training high-level basketball talent.
“As a player he had a lot of great leadership qualities. I am excited for Caden’s opportunity to show what he can do, and for our players to be able to be around him every day.”
Hoffman played collegiately and has worked in coaching and training for the past three years.
“Coach Coburn is all about the right things in college basketball so I’m happy to get an opportunity to join a Portland State program that is truly excelling,” said Hoffman. “I’m thankful that even though I don’t have a lengthy background of experience, Coach Coburn has given me this opportunity.”
Hoffman was a graduate assistant at TCU during the 2024-25 season. He previously served as a camp coach at Damian Lillard Formula Zero Basketball Camp in the summer of 2022 and 2023 and has been mentored by Phil Beckner of Driven Basketball.
A native of Scottsdale, Ariz., Hoffman was a member of the University of South Dakota’s basketball team for two seasons (2018-20), before playing three seasons at Concordia University St. Paul (2020-23) where he was two-time NSIC All-Academic honoree. He earned a degree in Sport Management from Concordia St. Paul in 2022 in Sport Management.
