Portland State University Athletics

    Barry Adams, a high school coaching legend in the state of Oregon, now serves as a special advisor to the Portland State Basketball program. He has assisted the program for five seasons.

    Adams spent 40 years as a high school basketball coach at five Oregon schools - Nestucca, Lebanon, Hillsboro, Glencoe and South Salem. He won two state championships and 656 total games. Adams was the state’s Basketball Coach of the Year four times and was inducted into the National Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 1999.

    Other highlights of his career include operating Cascade Sports Camp for 40 years, spending 23 years as coach of the Oregon All-Star Basketball teams, and helping operate the Les Schwab Christmas Tournament for the past 14 years.

    Adams was a co-founder of The Hoop Basketball facilities. He spent 35 years teaching history, economics, government and personal finance in high school.
