Andy McClouskey

Andy McClouskey was named assistant coach with the Viking basketball program in the summer of 2010. McClouskey came to the PSU program with more than 25 years of experience in collegiate coaching.

With a solid resume, quality coaching experience at the Division I level, and strong contacts in the basketball world, McClouskey has proven to be a great addition to Viking basketball.

"It certainly is good to have a coach with Andy's experience and familiarity with the northwest. He is well-respected in the basketball community," said Geving. "He has been in the business for more than 20 years and knows lot of people on the west coast. He has strong ties here in Oregon and that should really help our recruiting process."

Most recently, McClouskey spent eight seasons as an assistant coach at Boise State. He was involved in all aspects of the program, including scheduling, scouting and development of the offensive game plan. While an assistant at BSU, the Broncos earned berths in the NCAA, NIT and CBI post-season tournaments.

McClouskey also remembers an ESPNU nationally-televised loss he suffered in 2009.

"After being on the wrong end of a loss here at the Stott Center (as a Boise State assistant, 93-81) and seeing the Vikings play in the NCAA Tournament in Boise later that year, the potential is obvious with this program," said McClouskey. "And the success that has occurred here, if you go way back to the days of Freeman Williams and the Stoudamire brothers says a lot. Hopefully, I can be a part of moving things in the right direction."

Prior to his time at Boise State, McClouskey spent three seasons at Nevada and three seasons at Stetson University.

McClouskey began his coaching career as an assistant women's basketball coach at Oregon State in 1982. He moved on to Mt. Hood Community College as the head coach in 1985. McClouskey then coached at Oregon State under the legendary Ralph Miller and Jimmy Anderson.

During his coaching career, McClouskey has worked with many future NBA players including Gary Payton, Brent Barry, AC Green, Scott Haskins, Kirk Snyder and Coby Karl.

A 1982 graduate of Oregon State, McClouskey played two seasons under Miller. He had a stellar high school career, finishing as the third leading scorer in Oregon big school history.
