Has become a key player in the defensive backfield... started 25 games and played in 32 in his career... has 122 career tackles to rank second among active players... has nine pass breakups and eight career takeaways (5 INT, 3 FR).
JUNIOR SEASON • 2023
Started 10 games at strong safety, missing one with an injury... made 53 tackles to rank third on the team... addedfour tackles for loss, an interception, two pass breakups and a forced fumble... led the team in tackles twice... had a team-high 10 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and a pass breakup in the Vikings’ Dam Cup win over Eastern Washington (10/28)... a week later, made a career-high 11 tackles and a pass breakup at UC Davis (11/4).
SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2022
Competed in all 11 games, starting seven... started the first five at rover, then the last two at free safety... was hindered by injury through the middle of the season, limiting his time on the field... still ranked sixth in tackles with 37, had three tackles for loss, two sacks, two interceptions, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups... had a career game against San Jose State (9/1) with seven tackles, three tackles for loss and two sacks... made six tackles in a win over Northern Arizona (10/1)... also had six tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup against Sacramento State (11/11).
FRESHMAN SEASON • 2021
Began season primarily as a special teams player, but soon took over at the rover position and started the final eight games... played in all 11... had 32 tackles to rank ninth on the team and had a knack for making big plays... also had two fumble recoveries, two interceptions, four pass breakups and a sack... recovered two fumbles, one for a touchdown, while on special teams, in the season opener at Hawai’i (9/4)... four tackles and a pass breakup in the win at Southern Utah (10/2)... in the win over Idaho State (10/16), made two tackles, including a sack and had an interception... had a big game in the win over Cal Poly (10/30) with five tackles, an interception and two pass breakups... earned Academic All-Big Sky Conference honors in 2020 and 2021.
BEFORE PORTLAND STATE
Lettered in football three times and track once at Vista Murrieta High School… twice named first team All-League and Defensive League MVP… Division 2 CIF Southern Section All-State… two-time league champion… Poly Bowl Combine MVP.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Ramona Tuamoheloa-Shakir and Attiyyah Shakir… has two brothers, Khalil and Attiyyah Jr., and one sister, Rahni… Khalil plays football at Boise State… majoring in Applied Health and Fitness… hopes to play professional football and get into Sports Medicine… hobbies are outdoor activities, fishing, and doing community service with a local school.
