Has developed into a quality Big Sky defensive end... his role has grown over the past three seasons... has appeared in the most games of any returning player (32) with 16 starts... originally a walk-on, was honored as the AJ Schlatter Memorial Scholarship recipient for his performance in athletics, academics and local ties... named to the Dean’s List.
JUNIOR SEASON • 2024
Has become a fixture on the defensive line... played in all 11 games with eight starts... had 13 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a sack... made a season-high three stops in the win at Idaho State (10/12)... selected to the CSC Academic All-District team for the second straight year and Academic All-Big Sky Conference for the third straight year.
SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2023
Moved into the starting lineup at defensive end for eight of the 11 games... led the team with 3.5 sacks and had five tackles for loss overall... 16 tackles on the season... had a season-high four tackles against Idaho State (10/21), including two sacks... named CSC Academic All-District.
FRESHMAN SEASON • 2022
Played in 10 games on special teams and as a backup defensive end... did not record any tackles... earned Academic All-Big Sky Conference honors and named to the Dean’s List... a redshirt in 2021.
BEFORE PORTLAND STATE
Lettered in football three times, track three times, basketball once and lacrosse once at Hillsboro High School... earned first team All-Metro League as a defensive end and running back and was the team Most Valuable Player... honorable mention All-State defensive end... earned All-State in the 110 meter hurdles two times.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Mitch and Krista Shufelt... has one brother, Greyson, and one sister, Michaela... has completed his degree in Public Health Studies: Pre-Clinical Health Sciences... hobbies are working on cars, lifting weights and hanging out with friends and family... would like to become a physical therapist and own a clinic.
