    Big Sky Conference Player of the Week (10/2)

The first player signed at Portland State by Head Coach Nigel Burton... a talented athlete with a knack for getting into the play... has matured and should be a top talent in the Big Sky as a senior.

JUNIOR SEASON • 2010
Played in all 11 games, making 10 starts... ranked second on the team with 72 tackles... led the team with three interceptions... also had six pass breakups and forced fumble and 2.5 tackles for loss... led the team in tackles in five games and twice had double-digit tackles... .. ranked 21st in the Big Sky in total tackles and fourth in interceptions... made a season-high 13 tackles in the win over UC Davis (9/11)... had 11 tackles at Weber State (10/23)... returned an interception for touchdown in the win over Idaho State (10/2) adding six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and two pass breakups... was named Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week for that performance.

PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Played two seasons at Mt. San Antonio Junior College for a team that compiled a 25-3 record over those two seasons... twice played for the California Junior College State Championship. Mt. SAC won the title in 2009 and was also national champion... a national runner-up in 2008... as a freshman in 2008, Latu played in 14 games, making 68 tackles, six interceptions, broke up six passes, had three tackles for loss and one sack... in 2009, he played in 13 games, making 49 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and three pass breakups... named first team All-Conference.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Hola and Kaivai Latu... born June 17, 1990... has four brothers, Paula, Una, George and Kapeta, and one sister, Talahiva... majoring in Kinesiology... hobby is reading the Book of Mormon.
