Has become one of the best kickers in PSU history, ranking fourth in career field goals made (30), and setting a record for consecutive extra points made (77)... should add on another strong season as a senior.
JUNIOR SEASON • 2015
Was the starting kicker for the second straight season... made 13-16 field goals and 50-51 extra points... named third team All-Big Sky Conference... hit a 27-yard field goal with 33 seconds to play at Cal Poly (10/24), leading the Vikings to a 38-35 win... was named Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week with 3-4 field goals and 3-3 extra points in the game... made 77 consecutive extra points to set a school record before missing one late in the season... that shattered the PSU record for consecutive extra points made (44)... had a streak of nine straight field goals made before having one blocked at Cal Poly... made at least one field goal in 10 of 11 games he had kicking opportunities... ranked fifth in field goals made in the Big Sky Conference... was third in the Big Sky and 14th in the nation in field goal percentage (.812).
SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2014
Took over as Portland State’s starting place-kicker... earned the starting kicker job in a three-way competition during fall camp... started slow, making just one of his first four field goals, then 16 of the next 20... had a streak of eight straight made during the middle of the season... his 17 field goals made ranks as fourth-most in school history... led the Big Sky Conference and ranked ninth in the nation in field goals made... only full-time kicker in the Big Sky to be perfect on extra points (33-33)... made three field goals against UC Davis, North Dakota and Weber State... a 53-yarder against UC Davis (10/4) tied for second-longest in school history... at one point made 15 of 17 field goals with the only two misses coming from 56 yards (both long enough, but wide).
PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Played at San Bernardino Valley College in 2013... earned first team All-Conference, first team All-Region IV and first team CCCFCA All-American... made a school record three field goals longer than 50 yards... made 13-17 field goals and 40-44 extra points... was the Special Teams Player of the Year.
Lettered three times in football and soccer and twice in track and field at Apple Valley High School... was named first team All-CIF, first team All-Inland Empire and second team All-State... earned Most Improved Award and Special Teams Player of the Year Award from his team.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Son of Michael and Stephanie Gonzales... has five brothers, Michael, Mark, Matt, Chris and Aaron, and one sister, Faith... would like to major in Athletic Training and become and athletic trainer for a professional sports team... hobbies are soccer and video games.
