Has become a key player on the defensive side of the ball... has played in all 35 games of his career with 21 starts... always around the ball... has 69 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, eight sacks, two fumble recoveries and four pass breakups in his career... should be a leader on the defense in his final season.
JUNIOR SEASON • 2021
Played in all 11 games, starting six at defensive end...had 22 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 3.5 sacks, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup... ranked second on the team in TFLs and sacks... had a season-high four tackles with two tackles for loss at Idaho (10/9)... made a sack and a fumble recovery in the win over Cal Poly (10/3)... started in the spring game at Montana, making two tackles including one for loss...named Academic All-Big Sky Conference for 2020-21 despite not having a season due to COVID.
SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2019
Had a strong sophomore campaign... earned the starting defensive end job in camp and started all 12 games... made 35 tackles to rank seventh on the team... had 8.5 tackles for loss (second on the team) and 4.5 sacks (third on the team)... also had a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and three pass breakups... had a career-high eight tackles to lead the team in the win over Southern Utah (10/5)... made four tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and forced a fumble against Montana (11/2).
FRESHMAN SEASON • 2018
Got into the action as a redshirt freshman... played in all 11 games, starting the final two when Noah Yunker was injured... had 10 total tackles on the season, one tackle for loss and blocked an extra point at Oregon... made a season-high six tackles against Idaho State (11/3)... earned Academic All-Big Sky Conference... a redshirt in 2017.Â
BEFORE PORTLAND STATE
Lettered three times in football and baseball at West Linn High School... a first team All-State defensive lineman and second team All-State offensive lineman for the state champion West Linn Lions... twice a first team All-League as a defensive lineman and offensive lineman... ranked as the 21st-best prospect in the state of Oregon by Battle Prep West... competed in the Les Schwab Bowl All-Star game, making three tackles and two sacks... first team All-League in baseball... named Three Rivers League Player of the Year and first team All-State as a senior.
PERSONAL INFORMATION
Parents are Jason and Kim Porter... has one brother, Jordan... majoring in Business Administration.. hobbies are golf and hanging with family and friends... his father Jason played baseball at Portland State in the early 1990s.
