Biography

Did not compete during the 2023 season... a good athlete, could provide depth and experience if he gets back on the field in 2024.

SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2022

Played in seven games at cornerback and on special teams... had two tackles and one pass breakup on the season.

FRESHMAN SEASON • 2021

Played in six games as a backup cornerback and on special teams... made two tackles, one in a win over Southern Utah (10/2) and one in a win over Cal Poly (10/30)... competed in the spring game at Montana (4/17)... a redshirt in 2019.

BEFORE PORTLAND STATE

Lettered in football twice and basketball three times at Stadium High School… as a senior, he had 70 tackles, three tackles for loss, seven pass breakups and an interception… named first team All-State and All-Conference… made 31 tackles, six pass breakups and a forced fumble as a junior… named second team All-Conference… named first team All-League and All-State in basketball.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Son of Vaughn Gaines and Renee Joyner… has two brothers, Dauntel and Vaughn Jr…. majoring in Social Science… hobby is helping people.
