PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS

Kieran McDonagh

Kieran McDonagh begins his fifth season on the Portland State football staff. A former Viking quarterback under Bruce Barnum, McDonagh now coaches the Viking QBs.

This season’s challenge will be a little different for McDonagh as his All-Conference quarterback, Dante Chachere, has headed to the professional ranks. There will be no lack of competition to replace him though. McDonagh will work with a group of six signal callers in 2025, help determine the starter, and develop all the players for the Vikings’ future.

McDonagh spent one season as offensive coordinator at King’s Way (WA) High School before joining the Portland State staff. He has also trained high school student athletes.

A talented run/pass threat during his playing days at Portland State, McDonagh was a four-year letterwinner on the Viking football team from 2012 to 2015. He played in 37 games, making 29 starts at quarterback. The Vancouver, WA native passed for 5,913 yards and 42 touchdowns while rushing for 1,066 yards and 17 touchdowns in his PSU career. He ranks eighth all-time in passing yards and TDs at Portland State.

McDonagh is a local product who attended Vancouver’s Skyview High School. He has a degree in Communications from Portland State.
