John Brock was named to the Viking football staff in 2021. He currently serves as Flex Linebacker Coach and Director of Player of Development.
Although he spent much of his youth in New England, Brock is a Jesuit High School of Portland alum. Brock played collegiately at Curry College where he was a three-year starter on the offensive line.
Brock began his professional career in Marketing with Nike. He soon became director of Nike Football Camps and Clinics at Student Sports in Torrance, CA.
Brock joined the Army Football Staff as Director of Player Personnel and Recruiting in 2007, working with his uncle, Head Coach Stan Brock, and former PSU Head Coach Tim Walsh, who was the offensive coordinator. John became a defensive assistant coach at Army 2009. He also coached the Army “B” squad, or junior varsity, for three seasons. The team compiled a 16-2 mark against local prep schools and junior colleges.
After leaving Army in 2012, Brock has worked in sporting goods and private sector sales.
Brock’s father Pete played 12 seasons with the New England Patriots. His uncle, Stan, played 16 seasons for the New Orleans Saints and San Diego Chargers. Another uncle, Willie, spent time with the Detroit Lions.
A 2002 graduate of Curry College, Brock double majored in Political Science and History with a minor in English. He was the Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year at Curry, and a finalist for Academic All-American.
