Portland State University Athletics

Hansen Sekona comes to Portland State after spending the last two seasons at the University of Washington. Sekona was a graduate assistant on the defense for the 2016 Pac-12 Champions.

Sekona joined the Viking program in time for spring practice and has taken over coaching Viking linebackers.

Prior to working at Washington, Sekona was at the College of San Mateo in the Bay Area where he coached linebackers - including former Viking Mosa Likio. In 2014, Sekona helped CSM to a 9-2 overall record and coached a defense that allowed just 237.2 yards and 15.9 points per game.

Sekona, who attended Aragon High School, began his playing career at College of San Mateo. From there, he transferred to Kansas State, earning two letters as a linebacker for the Wildcats. Sekona played in all 24 games during his Wildcats career.

He earned his bachelor's degree in criminology from Kansas State.
