Biography

Has had massive bad luck with injuries, missing 2022 with an achilles injury, then going down in game five of 2023 with a knee injury... his recovery will impact his effectiveness in 2024... would be a huge boost to the receiving corps that lost seniors in 2023... was one of the best receivers in the Big Sky Conference after one season... can make the difficult catch look easy... extremely tough and has great hands... originally signed with Nebraska and attended there in 2019-20... entered the transfer portal following the season and signed with Portland State in May 2020.

SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2023

Started four games at wide receiver before a knee injury ended his season... had five receptions for 50 yards... a redshirt in 2022 after an achilles injury.

FRESHMAN SEASON • 2021

Had a brilliant debut season for the Vikings... played in 10 games, starting nine and missing one with injury... ranked second on the team with 54 receptions for 579 yards and four touchdowns... had a knack for making acrobatic and difficult catches under duress... also had five rushing plays for 24 yards... ranked fifth in receptions, third in receptions per game, 14th in yards per game, 13th in touchdowns in the Big Sky Conference... opened his career with six catches for a season-high 105 yards at Hawai’i (9/4)... also had six receptions for 59 yards at Washington State (9/11)... eight catches for 73 yards in the win over Western Oregon (9/18)... had five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown in the win at nationally-ranked Weber State (11/6)... season-high nine grabs at Sacramento State (11/13) for 73 yards and a touchdown... matched that with nine catches for 71 yards and a touchdown against Eastern Washington (11/20)... competed in spring football, earning the start in the spring game at Montana... had one reception for eight yards.

BEFORE PORTLAND STATE

Played in four games as a true freshman at Nebraska in 2019, preserving his redshirt status... made his career debut against Northern Illinois and recorded a 13-yard reception... also played against Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa.

A star player at Union High School in Camas... helped the school to a Class 4A state title and a 14-0 record in 2018... caught 65 passes for 1,004 yards and 14 receiving touchdowns in his senior season and added 214 yards on kickoff returns... in the state championship game, had five catches for 126 yards and a touchdown, while adding two tackles... named the Seattle Times Co-Player of the Year... was named the Washington Offensive Player of the Year and a first-team All-Washington selection by USA Today... also led Union to the state playoffs as a junior in 2017... caught 45 passes for 1,095 yards, averaging better than 24.3 yards per reception... had 14 receiving touchdowns, including a 98-yard touchdown catch, and totaled more than 1,300 all-purpose yards... on defense, he had 33 tackles, four interceptions, four tackles for loss and two breakups... first team All-State pick by the Associated Press after his junior and senior seasons... the Seattle Times named Chase one of five “blue chip” prospects in the state of Washington following his senior season... signed with Nebraska but also had offers from Oregon, Oregon State, Utah, Washington and Washington State among others.
