Will try to earn the starting quarterback role for the fourth year in a row in fall camp against a talented group of QBs... started 29 games and played in 31 in his career... has totaled 6,894 yards of offense to rank fourth all-time at Portland State... ranked seventh all-time in passing (5,865), touchdown passes (41) and completions (442-830).... has eight career games of over 300 yards total offense... a strong, physical player who is a talented runner... only second Viking QB in history with more than 1,000 rushing yards (1,029, 17 TDs)... responsible for 59 career touchdowns... a very strong arm.
JUNIOR SEASON • 2014
Third season as the starting quarterback, though he did cede the role to Josh Kraght late in the year... started nine games and played in 10... completed 154 of 301 passes for 1,742 yards, 12 touchdowns and 13 interceptions... also rushed 71 times for 254 yards... completed a career-high 31 of 51 passes for 269 yards, a touchdown and an interception at Washington State (9/13)... was 19-37 for 194 yards, while rushing eight times for 33 yards and two touchdowns in a win over UC Davis (10/4)... was 14-23 for 172 yards and two touchdowns in a win at Weber State (10/25)... also rushed a career-high 17 times for 62 yards and a score... most total offense came in relief against Eastern Washington... was 21-39 for 274 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions... also had six rushes for 51 yards for 325 yards of total offense.
SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2013
Battled Paris Penn and Collin Ramirez for the starting role again, and won it, playing in 10 games, with nine starts... lost his starting job for three games late in the season in part to ineffectiveness as well as a bad shoulder... still had a very productive year, completing 117-215 passes for 1,936 yards, 15 touchdowns and 11 interceptions... also rushed 67 times for 369 yards and four touchdowns on the season... led the nation in yards per completion (16.5)... engineered an offense that set school records for rushing (277.7 ypp) and total offense (540.5)... had three 300-yard passing games and his first career 100-yard rushing game... threw for 308 yards and a touchdown and rushed 11 times for 60 yards and a touchdown at California (9/7) as the team threatened an upset... passed for a career-high 377 yards and two TDs and ran for 64 yards in less than three quarters of a win over Humboldt State (9/14)... passed for 302 yards and ran for 48 against Cal Poly (9/26)... rushed for a career-high 108 yards on 10 carries against North Dakota (10/26).
FRESHMAN SEASON • 2012
First true freshman quarterback to start his first career game at Portland State since at least the 1950s, if ever... started all 11 games for the VIkings after beating out three other QBs in fall practice... proved to be a talented passer and runner, throwing for 2,187 yards and 14 touchdowns, and running for 406 yards and nine touchdowns... directed an offense that averaged 438.7 yards and 34.8 points per game... had the most passing yards and touchdowns by a Viking quarterback in five years... earned a spot on the 20-player ballot for the Jerry Rice National Freshman of the Year Award, finishing eighth in the balloting... completed 171 of 314 passes for a .545 percentage and had 13 interceptions... averaged 4.6 yards per carry, but not including sack yardage he averaged 5.3 yards... threw for a season-high 301 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions at North Dakota (9/8)... passed for 270 yards and two touchdowns and rushed 11 times for 52 yards against Southern Utah (9/22)... had a season-high 346 yards of total offense in the win over Idaho State (10/6), completing 15 of 23 passes for 280 yards and a touchdown, and rushing 10 times for 66 yards and four touchdowns... also caught a 22-yard touchdown pass in the game for a total of six TDs... was named Big Sky Conference Player of the Week and Sports Network National Freshman of the Week... in the win over UC Davis (10/27), passed for 250 yards and one touchdown, and rushed nine times for 57 yards and two scores.
PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Lettered in football four times, basketball twice and baseball once at Skyview High School... as a senior, he completed 163-239 passes for 2,637 yards, 24 touchdowns and four interceptions... also rushed 77 times for 371 yards and seven touchdowns... was an All-League quarterback and second team All-State... as a junior, he completed 102-142 passes for 1,545 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions... had 27 carries and 129 yards and one touchdown... a member of a four-time league champion team, placed second in state in 2011... was the defensive MVP and earned the team hustle award in basketball.

Son of Stephen and Gwen McDonagh... has one brother, Michael, and two sisters, Kiara and Stephanie... plans to major in Business... hobbies are playing the ukelele, video games and bike riding.
