    Honorable Mention All-Big Sky Conference

Moved into a starting role at defensive end and began to show the promise he brought as a player... has the skills needed as he runs well for his size and position and can play in space... has a chance to be an All-Conference caliber player as a senior... has been susceptible to injury, a healthy senior year should produce big results.

JUNIOR SEASON • 2010
Took over as a starting defensive end, getting the start in 10 games and becoming one of 23 players to play in all 11 games for the Vikings... missed the start at Sacramento State (11/6) with injury, but still saw action in the game...  made 46 tackles, the most on the defensive line and fifth-most on the team... led the team with 11 tackles for loss and four sacks... also made one fumble recovery... ranked second in the Big Sky in tackles for loss... had a career-high six tackles at Weber State (10/23)... made five tackles at Oregon (9/18), Montana State (10/9) and against Northern Colorado (11/13)... had four tackles and two sacks in the win over Idaho State (10/2)... had at least three tackles in every game... earned honorable mention All-Big Sky Conference honors.

SOPHOMORE SEASON • 2009
Expected to be a big contributor, but had nagging injuries that slowed his progress... played in eight games, making eight tackles... had two tackles against his former team in the season opener at Oregon State (9/5)... also came in at tight end in some blocking situations.

PREVIOUS TO PORTLAND STATE
Played in three games, making two tackles, in 2008 at Oregon State before transferring to Portland State... was a redshirt at OSU in 2007.

A four-year letterman at Wilsonville High School... was a starter at defensive end and tight end... was first team All-State as a defensive lineman and second team All-State as a tight end his senior season... was named defensive MVP of the Northwest League... a four-time All-Conference selection and three-time All-State selection... played in the Les Schwab Bowl... also lettered twice in basketball.

 Son of Doug and Bobbie Sommer... born November 21, 1988... has one sister, Stephanie, and one brother, Cameron... his father coaches at Wilsonville High School... hobbies are collecting shoes and coaching high school football... majoring in Social Science with a minor in Sociology... would like to work in Nike Product Development.
