PORTLAND, Ore. — In 10 days, the Portland State volleyball program will kick off its 2025 season with its first practice. Before then, the Vikings squeezed one final honor out of the previous season, receiving the AVCA Team Academic Award, sponsored by INTENT, Monday.
Â
The Vikings received the honor for a fourth straight year, finishing with a team GPA of 3.67 for the 2024-25 academic year. The 3.67 GPA – well clear of the 3.30 minimum required for the award – represents the Vikings' best GPA on record. The Vikings' previous high came in 2021 when they received the AVCA Team Academic honor with a 3.46 GPA.
Â
The Vikings recorded their highest term GPA on record (since 2013) with a 3.74 during fall term. Additionally, 11 Vikings finished with a perfect 4.0 term GPA between winter (5) and spring term (6).
Ava Blascziek,
Taylor Hunter,
Delaney Nicoll and
Tyra Schaub all earned a 4.0 GPA in both winter and spring, while Schaub also made the President's List in the fall.
Â
The Vikings tied another academic record in the fall when 10 student-athletes made the Academic All-Big Sky team. That matched the record originally set in 2010 and later equaled in 2017.
