Parker Henry has joined the Portland State Football Coaching Staff for the 2023 season as Linebackers Coach and Special Teams Coordinator. Henry was a defensive assistant with the Vikings in 2018, working with inside linebackers.
"Parker has a great work ethic and love of the game," said Vikings Coach Bruce Barnum. "I have known him since he was in high school. He walked on at Washington State and earned a spot on special teams with Coach Mike Leach. He is a driven coach who spent time with us before but is now back with lots more football knowledge from where he has been.
"I'm excited to have him with his extensive knowledge of special teams. He will bring our special teams to the level we need them to be."
Henry spent the previous two years as a defensive analyst at USC. He also has three seasons of experience at Oklahoma as a defensive graduate assistant (2019-21). The Sooners played in the 2019 Peach Bowl (CFP semifinal), 2020 Cotton Bowl and 2021 Alamo Bowl.
A 2016 graduate of Washington State, Henry earned a bachelor's degree in economics and sports management. He earned his master's degree in human relations from Oklahoma in 2021.
Henry played on the Washington State football team as a nickelback (2012-16). In his 41-game career, he had 103 tackles, including seven for losses, and an interception, while starting 12 times.
An All-State running back at Skyview High School in Vancouver, WA, Henry began his coaching career at his alma mater in 2017 coaching linebackers and running backs, then came to PSU as a defensive assistant for one season.
