PORTLAND, Ore. — With one eye toward honoring its present at Friday's Senior Day match against Sacramento State, the Portland State volleyball team took a step towards its future Wednesday with the signing of three high school seniors as part of its 2024 recruiting class.
Â
The incoming players include middle blocker Reece Biesmeyer, setter Allison Panter and libero/defensive specialist Cali-Jo Shigemasa.
Â
"Our incoming 2024 student-athletes are great people and great players, period," Portland State head coach
Michael Seemann said of Wednesday's
signings. "We are thrilled with the impact the 2024 class will have on our program, immediately and as they continue to develop as members of our Vikings volleyball family."
Â
The trio of signees add depth across the court for the Vikings next season. Biesemeyer, a 6-1 middle, comes to the Vikings out of Perry High school in Chandler, Ariz. Shigemasa, a 5-3 libero out of Punahou School in Pearl City, Hawai'i, also comes from athletic parents, as her mom, Stephanie, played volleyball for the University of Hawai'i.
