Portland State punter
Seth Vernon has signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Falcons following the 2022 NFL Draft.
Vernon, who completed his PSU career last fall, was signed by the Falcons after two outstanding seasons with the Vikings. As a senior in 2021, Vernon averaged 44.9 yards per punt, which would have ranked sixth in the nation but he did not meet the NCAA minimum attempts (3.6 per game) with 3.4 attempts per game.
As a junior in 2019 Vernon averaged 43.2 yards per punt, ranking 12
th in the nation. He averaged 54.8 yards on six punts in his only game of 2020 (due to the COVID pandemic).
For his career, Vernon averaged 44.6 yards per punt. Twenty-three of his 93 punts were in excess of 50 yards, there were 19 fair catches and 27 were downed inside the 20-yard line. Vernon ranks as the second-best punter, by average, in Portland State history.
Vernon is originally from Santa Rosa, CA where he attended Maria Carrillo High School and Santa Rose Junior College. At 6-5, 230 pounds he is a talented athlete who also played receiver in high school and junior college.
