Men, Women Earn Viking Program's First Simultaneous Ranking in USTFCCCA West Region

RANKINGS - MEN | WOMEN

NEW ORLEANS —
The signs of growth keep coming for the Portland State cross country programs.

Following the best combined finish between the men's and women's teams at the Big Sky Cross Country Winter Championships, both teams have now entered the USTFCCCA West Region rankings – marking the first time in program history that both teams have been ranked at the same time. The Viking men came in 12th in the West Region rankings Tuesday, while the women came in 14th.

The No. 12 ranking marks the first-ever ranking for the Viking men's program, and follows their best-ever finish at the Big Sky meet Saturday, when they placed fifth in the conference. The women, meanwhile, were last ranked in 2018, when they topped out at No. 15. The 14th ranking marks their highest placement ever in the poll, and follows their sixth-place finish at the Big Sky meet.

Teams from the Big West Conference were not included in the poll after the conference opted out of the season.
