Vikings Earn Decisive Win Against Idaho State at Home

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Vikings found themselves back on the winning side of things on Saturday as the Portland State women's tennis team defeated Idaho State 6-1 at the Vancouver Tennis Center.

With the win, Portland State improves to 4-6 overall and 2-2 in Big Sky play, while holding a 4-1 record at home.

The Vikings picked up an early point in the doubles competitions, as Jacinta Milenkoski and Eszter Zador wrapped up their match at the No. 2 spot first, winning 6-1 while Alli Valk and Emily Rees clinched the point with a 6-1 victory as well, playing at No. 3. "We came together as a team today, we learned a lot of lessons last week in Washington but today we made sure to improve on everything we did, come together and pull out the win," said Milenkoski. "As the season goes on, we just need to take what we learn, apply it in practice and get better each week."

Nina Nikitovic got things started for the Vikings in singles play, jumping out to a 6-4 lead in the opening set before finishing with a 6-4 result in the second, giving Portland State a 2-0 lead. Zador won her match at the No. 4 spot in straight sets, winning 6-2, 6-4 for her third win of the season.
