PORTLAND – Junior guard Kiana Brown came off the bench for a team-high 19 points but the Vikings shot a near-season-low from the floor, falling 88-59 to the Idaho State Bengals Thursday night at the Pamplin Sports Center at Lewis and Clark College.
 
Brown, a Cottage Grove, Ore. native, went a perfect 14-for-14 at the line against the Bengals en route to her team-high 19 points. Her 14 free-throws in a game without a miss matched a 26-year-old school record set by Angela Hewlett against Idaho on January 6, 1992. It is also the third most all-time in Big Sky history.
 
Not only did Brown match the record for consecutive free-throws in a game without a miss, combined with her previous 20-consecutive makes, she has made her last 34 free-throws, which surpasses Jameelah Magee's 12-year-old school record of 31-straight makes during the 2004-05 season.
 
Brown's performance was a bright spot for the Vikings (9-8 overall, 3-3 Big Sky Conference) in an otherwise forgettable night. Portland State shot 31.8 percent from the floor, its second worst shooting mark of the season. The Vikings turned the ball over 20 times, their most in over a month, and had just 14 field goals, their fewest this season.
 
Combine that 51 fouls between the two teams, including 38 in the second half. Portland State went 29-for-35 (.829) at the line on the night.
 
FR F Savannah Dhaliwal provided the Vikings with a bit of a spark off the bench in the second half. She scored 10 points, going 2-for-2 from the floor and 6-for-8 at the line, with a pair of rebounds in just 12 minutes. The Portland State bench scored 38 points in the game, its most against an NCAA Division I opponent this season.
 
Idaho State (11-6, 3-3) shot an opponent season-high 61.2 percent (30-for-49) from the floor and 61.1 percent (11-for-18) from three-point range, also an opponent season-high.
 
Brooke Blair scored a game-high 20 points for the Bengals, going 7-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-5 from three-point range.
 
Portland State will have to put this game quickly behind them as Weber State brings the conference's top scoring offense to the Pamplin Sports Center Saturday afternoon. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m. PT.
