PORTLAND – The Vikings took care of business Saturday with a commanding, 68-45, win over the Montana Lady Griz at the Peter W. Stott Center. The 23-point margin of victory is the second best all time for Portland State against Montana.

For the second time this season, Portland State (12-14 overall, 6-8 Big Sky Conference) held Montana (5-21, 2-13) to under 50 points and under 30 percent shooting from the floor. Saturday's win completed the season sweep of Montana for the first time since the 2011 season.

Portland State spread the ball around well with three players scoring at least 14 points. Sophomore G
Sidney Rielly led all scorers with a game-high 17 points, going 7-for-15 from the floor. She pulled down three rebounds in 33 minutes of action.

Rielly opened the game with seven points in the first quarter but then was held to just two points over the next 20 minutes. She scored eight points, on 4-of-8 shooting, in the fourth quarter to lead the Vikings to the 23-point win.

Sophomore F
Courtney West posted another solid performance, scoring 14 points on 7-of-10 shooting. She pulled down seven boards, recorded two assists, and had two blocked shots. Her two blocks bring her season total to 66, two shy of the Portland State record of 68 set by Katy Wade during the 2009-10 season.

Sophomore G
Ashley Bolston added 14 points, three rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal in 30 minutes of action. It was her 12th consecutive game in double-figure scoring.

Michaela Kay added seven points off the bench, while
Pia Jurhar added six points, seven rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Cici West came off the bench and pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds for her sixth double-digit rebound game of the year.

Montana scored the first basket of the game and briefly led 4-3 early in the first quarter. The Vikings scored seven-straight points to take a six-point lead at 10-4. After a pair of baskets by the Lady Griz, the Vikings ended the quarter on another 7-0 run to lead 18-8.

Portland state opened the second quarter on an 11-3 run to go up 18 at 29-11. After a Montana basket, the Vikings scored the final four points of the half to lead 33-13 at the half.

The 13 points allowed by the Vikings was the fewest allowed in any half this season. Portland State allowed just five first-half field goals and held Montana to 17.9 percent shooting from the floor. PSU shot just 37.5 percent from the floor in the first half, well below their season average. The Vikings shot much better in the second half and finished the game shooting 44.1 percent from the floor.

Montana started to put some things together in the third quarter but never really put the game in question. The Lady Griz made it a 14-point game with 2:44 left in the third by the Vikings stretched it back up to 17 points heading into the fourth.

Montana started the fourth on an 8-2 run to make it an 11-point game with 7:29 left. The Vikings then scored 12 of the next 14 points to go up 21 after a layup from Rielly with just over three minutes to play. After another Lady Griz three-pointer, their third of the quarter, the Vikings ended the game on a 7-2 run to win by the 23-point margin.

Montana's Gabi Harrington led the team with eight points off the bench. She went 3-for-9 from the floor, hitting two three-pointers.

Portland State hits the road next week for a pair of crucial games at Southern Utah and at Northern Arizona. The Vikings finish the regular season at home the following week against two of the top teams in the league, North Dakota and Northern Colorado.Â
