PORTLAND – The Vikings begin their holiday break on a high after defeating the Ole Miss Rebels, 94-79, Tuesday night for their season-high third-straight win to close out non-conference action.

Ashley Bolston posted a career-high 32 points becoming just the 17th player in program history to surpass the 30-point mark.

Bolston was all over the court for the Vikings. She scored her career-high 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting, which included a pair of three-pointers. She went a perfect 10-for-10 from the floor, posting her second career game tallying double-digit free throws without a miss. She added five rebounds and four assists in a season-high 37 minutes.

Ole Miss came into the game out-rebounding opponents and averaging 40.8 boards per game. The Vikings would not be pushed around dominated the glass throughout. The Vikings matched their season-high with 52 rebounds and limited the Rebels to just 34. PSU had six different players record five or more rebounds in the game.

The Vikings attacked the offensive glass with a purpose recording a season-high 18 offensive rebounds, which turned into a season-high 21 second-chance points.

Rielly posted her sixth 20-point game of the season, in 11 tries, with 23 points on 7-of-18 shooting. She hit a trio of three-pointers, her fifth such game of the year after tallying just three games of three-or-more triples a year ago. She too was perfect at the line, going 6-for-6.

The Vikings shot a season-high .857 from the charity stripe, going 24-for-28 as a team. Conversely, the Rebels went just 9-for-24 (.375).

Kiana Brown came up big for the Vikings off the bench. She posted her first double-digit scoring game since being moved from the starting lineup with the return of Bolston. She scored 12 points, going 2-for-5 from distance, which keeps her consecutive game with a three-pointer made streak going. She went a perfect 6-for-6 at the line, all coming over the final 61 seconds as the Vikings closed out the win.

Rielly started the scoring for the Vikings with a three-pointer on the Vikings' first shot of the game. Bolston added a layup to give the Vikings an early 5-0 lead. Ole Miss tied the game at 7-7 before a three from Bolston gave the Vikings the lead again at 10-7. A jumper made it a one point game, but that would be as close as the Rebels would get the rest of the way.

The Vikings closed out the quarter on a 12-0 run, which included a pair of three-pointers from Brown to lead 22-9 at the end of the first period. The Vikings zone defense stymied the Rebels' offense early on. Ole Miss could not penetrate on the drive and had to settle for a lot of outside jumpers.

Portland State continued to extend its lead throughout the second quarter. Bolston scored an and-one followed by a pair of free throws from Rielly. Two more at the line from Bolston gave the Vikings' a 7-0 run to make it a 22-point lead a 28-16 with 3:53 left in the half.

Kylie Jimenez took the ball coast-to-coast and hit a jumper in the key as the buzzer sounded to give the Vikings a 46-28 lead at the break. Jimenez finished the game with six points and a career-high nine assists.

After struggling from distance in the first half, Ole Miss started to connect from three-point range. A pair of Bolston free throws made it a 27-point game at the 6:31 mark in the third quarter.

Ole Miss put on the full-court press, which put pressure on the Vikings and they started to turn the ball over.

The Rebels went on an 8-0 run to cut the lead to 19 at 57-38. After trading baskets, Ole Miss went on a 13-0 run to make it a seven-point game at 61-54, which forced Portland State to call a timeout.

The Vikings got a stop before a three-pointer from
Corey James, her first basket of the of the game, gave the Vikings a 10-point lead at 64-54. A late layup by Ole Miss cut the lead to eight points heading to the fourth quarter.

The Vikings turned the ball over seven times in the third quarter, which led to 13 points for the rebels. Â

Portland State opened the fourth on a 6-0 run to build its lead back up to 14 points. Ole Miss cut the lead down to nine and then to eight with 3:52 left in the contest. JR F
Pia Jurhar came up with a big offensive rebound followed by a put back to make it again a double-digit lead for the Vikings.

PSU went on a 7-0 run to extend its lead back to 15 points after a free throw from JR F
Courtney West. After an Ole Miss three-pointer made it 86-74 with 1:08 remaining in the game, the Rebels started to foul. The Vikings were unfazed as they went to the line and hit eight-straight free throws, six straight coming from Brown before a pair from Rielly put the Vikings up 17 with 31 ticks left.

Ole Miss hit a late jumper but it was too little and too late as Portland State picked up a statement win as they close out non-conference play.

Alissa Alston had a team-high 21 points for the Rebels, going 7-for-14 from the floor and 4-for-9 from distance. Madinah Muhammad had 19 points before picking up her fifth foul with 3:06 left in the game. Ole Miss falls to 9-3 with the loss.

The win improved the Vikings to 6-5 overall heading and will take its season-high three-game winning streak into Big Sky Conference play next week. Portland State opens league play with three-consecutive home games beginning Saturday, Dec. 30 against the Sacramento State Hornets.
