LOGAN, Utah – The Vikings picked up their first sweep of the season with a 3-0 win over Southeastern Louisiana Thursday morning at the USU Invitational hosted by Utah State in Logan, Utah. The Vikings took the match by scores of 25-18, 25-20, and 25-17.

Portland State (5-2 overall) put together its most complete match of the season in the sweep. The Vikings hit a season-high .330 (40-8-97) against the Lions (1-6), their highest hitting percentage since they hit .337 in a sweep of Nevada last season.

The Vikings recorded a season-low eight attacking errors in the match and did not hit into a single block over the three sets. Conversely, the Vikings tallied nine blocks (3.0 blocks per set) matching their best per set block output of the season.

Senior OH
Pati Anae continues to shine for the Vikings. She posted a match-high 15 kills, leading the Vikings in kills for the seventh time in as many matches this season. She also hit .364 (15-3-33) for the match, which improved her season hitting mark to .302.

Sophomore OH
Sarah Brennan came off the bench in the second set and recorded five of her eight kills for the match. She hit .556 (5-0-9) in the set and hit .350 for the match.

Katy Wilson each tallied seven kills for the Vikings. Wilson hit .545 (7-1-11) for the match, while adding four blocks.

Erin Clark posted her most rounded match of the season with 35 assists and 10 digs for her third straight double-double. She also added a pair of kills, a service ace, and a career-high four blocks (0-4).

The Vikings came out of the gate fast in the first set. They quickly went up 4-1 before pushing their lead to 15-9 and then 20-14 later in the set. Portland State would go on to take the set 25-18. PSU hit .367 in the first. Anae tallied seven of her 15 kills for the match in the opening frame, hitting. 636 (7-0-11).

Portland State repeated itself in the second, jumping out to a 6-1 lead. The Vikings maintained their advantage throughout the set, once again going up 20-14. Southeastern Louisiana put together a small run late in the set but the Vikings would take it 25-20 to go up 2-0 in the match.

Portland State was not able to jump out to an early lead in the third set like it did in the first two frames. Tied at 12-12, The Vikings went on a 3-0 run to go up 15-12. They went on a 5-0 run later in the set to go up 23-16. Wilson made it 24-17 with her seventh kill of the match before a SLU attacking error gave the Vikings the 25-17 win in the third.
