OGDEN, Utah – The Vikings dropped a tough four-set match Saturday night to the Weber State Wildcats in Ogden, Utah.

Portland State (9-5 overall, 1-1 Big Sky Conference) took the first set by a score of 25-22 before Weber State (10-1, 1-1) took the next three by scores of 25-18, 25-21, and 25-18.

Pati Anae was one of two Vikings with a team-high 14 kills in the match. She also added 17 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. She matched her career high with a pair of solo blocks. Sophomore OH
Jenna Mullen was the other Viking with 14 kills against the Wildcats. She added seven digs and an ace in the match.

Erin Clark posted her seventh double-double, second straight, with 46 assists and 11 digs. Junior L
Tasha Bojanic posted her fifth 20-dig performance of the season with 20 against Weber State after posting a career high 29 Friday at Idaho State. She averaged 6.12 digs per set over the weekend, second best in the Big Sky.

The Vikings seemed to be running on all cylinders in the opening frame. They hit .319 with 19 digs and a trio of blocks to take the first set 25-22. Anae led the team with seven kills with sophomore MB
Katy Wilson adding five.

Things changed in the second as the Vikings saw their hitting percentage fall to just .100, while the Wildcats hit .256. With the set tied at 12-12, Weber State scored three straight to go up 15-12. The Wildcats maintained their advantage and took the set 25-18 after back-to-back blocks to close out the frame.

Weber State led nearly the entire third set. The Wildcats went on a 4-0 run midway through the set that gave them the lead that they never gave up, taking it 25-19. The Vikings were unable to really get anything going in the fourth set, falling 25-18.

Portland State returns home next week for its first home matches in over a month. The Vikings will open their Big Sky home slate against Montana State on Thursday, Sept. 29 at 7 p.m. Portland State will then host Sacramento State on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7:30 p.m.
