Ashley Torres Negron scored a team-high 14 points, but the Vikings fell to Southern Utah, 76-64, Friday night in their season finale.

Torres Negron posted 14 points for her 12th double-digit scoring game of the season, third straight. She went 5-for-14 from the floor in the game with a three-pointer. She also went 3-for-7 at the free-throw line, pulled down three rebounds, and recorded four assists.

Torres Negron posted a career-high 22 points Wednesday in the Vikings' win over Northern Arizona. She averaged 18.0 ppg over the last two games, while shooting .400 from the floor. She finished the regular season averaging 10.0 ppg.

Corey James added 13 points off the bench for the Vikings, going 5-for-9 from the floor with a trio of three-pointers. She has scored in double-figures in each of her last five games.
Alicia Carline added 12 points and pulled down a team-high six rebounds in the game.

Portland State took an early 6-3 lead in the first quarter after a pair of three-pointers from
Kian McNair and
Michaela Kay. The Vikings went cold from the floor after that, allowing the Thunderbirds to go on a 15-0 run to go up 18-6. Portland State cut into the lead with a 6-0 run to finish out the quarter, but still trailed 18-12.

The Vikings cut the lead to three points following a jumper by Carline midway through the second quarter but another run by the T-Birds put them up 11, 31-20. They increased their lead with a pair of late free throws and led 37-23 at the break.

Torres Negron scored 11 of her 14 points in the first half going 4-for-7 from the floor.

Southern Utah led by 20 points, 64-44, at the end of the third quarter before going up by as much as 22 points in the fourth. The Vikings cut into the lead but it was not enough and they fell by the final 76-64 margin.

Southern Utah's Ashleigh Munns led all scorers with 23 points in the game on 8-of-14 shooting.

With the final day of the regular season complete, the Vikings now know who they will be playing in the Big Sky Conference Women's Basketball Tournament next week in Reno, Nev. The Vikings will enter the tournament as the No. 11 seed and will play No. 7 Weber State at 8:05 p.m. PT on Monday, March 7 in the final game of the opening round. The winner of that game will advance to play No. 3 seed Idaho on Wednesday, March 9. Â Â
