MOSCOW, Idaho
– Freshman G Kian McNair posted a game-high 18 points, but the Vikings fell to the Idaho Vandals, 84-63, Thursday night in Moscow, Idaho.

McNair's 14th double-digit scoring performance of the season came on 7-of-14 shooting from the floor, including 3-for-5 from three-point range. McNair tallied a pair of steals in the game and has now recorded a steal in every game this season.

Sophomore G Cici West added 10 points in the game along with eight rebounds, while freshman F Pia Jurhar added nine points and eight rebounds.

The first quarter played relatively even as both teams took and retook the lead. With the score tied at 11-11, Idaho went on a 12-4 run, over the final 3:20 of the first quarter, to take a 23-15 lead after one.

Idaho out-rebounded Portland State 20-5 in the first quarter, which led to a 7-0 advantage in second chance points. The Vikings cut into the rebounding deficit in the second quarter and allowed just five second chance points throughout the rest of the contest.

The Vandals out-scored the Vikings 18-15 in the second quarter and led 41-30 at the break. McNair led all scorers with 13 points at the half.

The Vikings entered the game with just seven players suited up due to injury. The depleted roster had its effect on the Vikings with four players playing over 30 minutes.

Idaho extended its lead throughout the second half and built up a 32-point lead with under seven minutes left in the game. The Vikings went on a late run and cut the lead down to the final 21-point margin of 84-63.

Idaho improved to 19-7 overall and 11-3 in Big Sky Conference play, while Portland State fell to 3-21 and 1-12.

Portland State continues its road trip Saturday in Cheney, Wash. where the Vikings take on the Eastern Washington Eagles at 2 p.m. PT. Portland State picked up its only Big Sky win, 81-79, earlier this season against Eastern Washington at the Peter W. Stott Center.
