Sidney Rielly and
Ashley Bolston each score 20 in Portland State's comeback win over Seattle University Wednesday night in Seattle, Wash. The Vikings trailed by five entering the fourth before outscoring the Redhawks 27-14 over the final 10 minutes for the 79-71 win.

Portland State (2-2 overall) trailed by five with 7:05 on the clock in the fourth quarter. The Vikings then rattled off 12 unanswered points to take a seven-point lead, 68-61, with just under four minutes left. Seattle (1-4) cut the lead to four points, 69-65, with 2:44 left on the clock.

The Vikings went 8-for-10 at the free-throw line down the stretch to secure the victory. They went 14-for-18 in the fourth quarter and finished 28-of-35 at the line for the game.
"I thought our defensive effort in the last three quarters was the difference in the game," second-year Head Coach
Lynn Kennedy said following the win. "They are a really good team with excellent shooters and we saw that in the first quarter. We settled into our game plan and were able to get important stops in the fourth. I'm very proud of how hard our team play tonight. It was a great team win."

Rielly led the Vikings with 23 points in the game, going 9-for-18 from the floor with a three-pointer. She also went 4-for-5 at the line in 37 minutes. Her 23 points put her over the 20-point mark for the third-straight game, becoming the first Viking since Kate Lanz in 2011-12 to achieve the feat.

Bolston added a career-high 20 points in the game for her first 20-point game in a Portland State uniform. She went 5-for-8 from the floor, with a three-pointer, and went 9-for-11 at the line. She added four rebounds, four steals, and a team-high six assists in 38 minutes. She is averaging a team-best 5.75 assists per game this season.

Rielly and Bolston became the first Vikings combo to each go for 20-points in a single-game since Lanz and Allie Brock did so at Eastern Washington in December 2013.

The win gave the Vikings their first road victory of the season and evened their record at 2-2 on the year. It is their best record through four games since going 3-1 to start the 2012-13 season. It also gives the Vikings back-to-back wins for the first time since the end of the 2013-14 season.

Seattle had a huge shooting advantage early in the game. The Redhawks shot .706 (12-for-17) from the floor at the end of the first quarter. They dropped off substantially over the rest of the game with just 14 field goals over the final three quarters. Seattle ended the game shooting .361 for the game.

Portland State on the other hand, got hotter as the game went on. The Vikings shot .500 in the second half, including a 6-for-9 mark in the fourth quarter, and finished the game shooting .444 (24-for-54) for the game.

Seattle did a lot of its damage early in the game with 14 points in the paint in the first quarter. Portland State forced the Redhawks to shoot more from the outside through the next three quarter and allowed just 18 points in the paint over the final 30 minutes. Portland State scored 28 in the paint and turned 19 Seattle turnovers into 23 points in the game.

Courtney West was limited to five points and seven rebounds after missing much of the first half due to early foul trouble.

Michaela Kay scored eight points (1-5 3FG, 5-6 FT) with five rebounds, five assists, and two steals. She has recorded five assists in all four games this season.

The Vikings led 5-2 early in the first quarter before the Redhawks took a 10-5 lead following an 8-0 run. The teams traded points before a jumper by Bolston made it a 21-18 game in favor of Seattle.

Another 8-0 run by the Redhawks put them up by 11, 29-18. Senior G
Ashley Torres Negron came into the game for the first time with 1:24 left in the first. She scored four-straight points to make it a 29-22 game at the end of one.

Seattle opened the second quarter on a 6-1 run before a jumper by sophomore F
Pia Jurhar ended and 0-for-5 shooting stretch for the Vikings to make it 35-25.
Cici West added a layup to make it 35-27, which forced Seattle to call a timeout.

Jurhar hit another jumper on a pass from Bolston after the timeout to pull the Vikings within six. Seattle ended the Portland State 6-0 run with a three-pointer to extend its lead back to nine at 38-29.

Tatiana Streun and a fast-break layup by Rielly made it a five-point game at 38-33. After the teams traded points, Seattle got its lead back up to nine points before a layup by
Cici West cut the lead back down to seven, 44-37, at the half.

Rielly led the Vikings with 13 points in the half, going 5-for-10 from the floor. Bolston added eight points, while Jurhar contributed six points and four rebounds.

After Seattle opened the second half with a jumper, a jumper by Jurhar and a three-pointer from Bolston cut the lead to four points at 46-42.
Cici West added an old-fashioned three-point play to cut the lead to just one at 46-45.

Seattle ended Portland State's 8-0 run with a three-pointer to go up 49-45. The three-pointer by the Redhawks was just their fifth field goal in their last 21 attempts, after starting the game 15-for-21.

After cutting the lead to one point at 46-45, Portland State went on a scoring drought of over four minutes but thankfully Seattle went equally as cold from the floor and was not able to extend its lead.

The teams traded points but Seattle maintained its four-point lead at 52-48. A steal by Bolston led to a fast-break layup by Rielly to cut the lead to two at 52-50. Two free throws by Seattle and it had its four-point lead again at 54-50.

Seattle's Kaylee Best hit her third three-pointer of the quarter to put the Redhawks up 57-50 with 1:55 remaining in the third. Seattle missed a three-pointer at the end of the third but led 57-52 after a pair of late free throws by the Vikings.

The teams traded points until a layup by Rielly and a three-pointer by Kay, her first field goal of the game, tied it at 61-61 with 5:11 remaining. After another Seattle missed jumper, Boslton gave the Vikings their first lead of the game since it was 5-2 in the first quarter. She finished the and-one to put the Vikings up three at 64-61.

Another old-fashioned three-point play by Rielly, which put her over 20-points for the third-straight game, extended the Vikings' lead to six points, 67-61, and extended their run to 11-0.

Courtney West went 1-for-2 at the line to put the Vikings up 68-61 with 3:43 left. A pair of Seattle free throws made it a five-point game.
Cici West then went 1-for-2 at the line to make it a 69-63 game.

After a Seattle 30-second timeout, the Redhawks cut the lead to four with a layup. After a Portland State timeout, Kay missed a three-pointer but
Cici West came up with a big offensive rebound, her fourth of the game. Bolston was fouled after the rebound and then hit two free-throws to put the Vikings up six at 71-65. Bolston's free throws put her over the 20-point mark for the first time in her PSU career.

A Seattle three-pointer cut Portland State's lead in half, 71-68, with 1:17 remaining. Rielly went 1-for-2 at the line but another big offensive rebound by the Vikings gave them the ball back.
Courtney West hit a jumper to put them up six, 74-68, with :47 on the clock.

A three-point play on the other end cut the lead to three at 74-71. Kay was immediately fouled on the inbounds with :28 on the clock, sending her to the line. She hit both free throws to put the Vikings up five.

Seattle called a 30-second timeout to advance the ball. The Redhawks missed a three-pointer with :26 left. Kay came up with a big rebound, her fifth of the game. She was fouled again before hitting two more at the line to put the Vikings up seven.

After a Seattle miss and then a foul,
Cici West sealed the victory with another free throw to put the Vikings up 79-71.

Seattle had four players with double-digit points, led by Best's team-high 21 points.

Portland State hits the road again next week to take-on cross-town rival the University of Portland on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at the Chiles Center. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. PT.
