LAS VEGAS
– The Portland State volleyball picked up their first road win of the season in dominating fashion with a three-set sweep of the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles Friday afternoon at the Rebels Challenge in Las Vegas, Nev.

The Vikings took the match by scores of 25-21, 25-11, and 25-16 to improve to 3-4 overall while the Golden Eagles fell to 4-3.

Freshman OH Eva Linden led the Vikings in kills for the fifth-straight match recording double-digit kills in each. She hit .385 for the Vikings connecting on 12-of-26 attacks with just two errors. As a team, the Vikings hit .272 while they held the Golden Eagles to a .024 hitting mark, an opponent season low. Fellow freshman OH Jenna Wilson added six kills while junior OH Pati Anae added five.

Portland State continued to serve tough, tallying nine aces, matching the team's previous season high. The Vikings now average 1.61 aces per set.

Neither team hit well in the first set as the teams combined for 18 kills and 17 errors in the set. The Vikings found their edge at the net tallying four blocks in the set. The four blocks, along with a pair of aces from Linden, proved to be the difference as they won 25-21.

The Vikings found their rhythm in the second set making quick work of the Golden Eagles winning 25-11 to go up 2-0 in the match. Portland State hit .522 in the set and held ORU to just 11 points, fewest by an opponent this season.

Linden led the Vikings with four kills on six attacks for the set. Freshman MB Mikaelyn Sych, making her first start for the Vikings, went 4-for-4 in the set and accounted for all three of the team's blocks with a solo and to assists.

Portland State closed out the match with a 25-16 win in the third behind six more kills from Linden. The Vikings hit .391 for the set while they held the Golden Eagles to a .083 mark.
