EUGENE, Ore. – The Portland State women's basketball team fell at the University of Oregon by a score of 122-59 Thursday night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.

The Ducks proved to be too much down low as they outscored the Vikings 58-18 in the paint. Oregon shot 59.3 percent from the floor and 57.7 percent from three-point range connecting on 15 three pointers in the game, 10 in the second half.

Oregon jumped out to an early lead with its first seven field goals coming as layups in the paint. The Vikings went nearly five minutes without a field goal to start the game before freshman G
Corey James hit a jumper for her first basket.

James followed that up with a three pointer to pull within eight at 14-6. Oregon scored eight-straight points to go up 22-6 before a Portland State 9-1 run brought the margin back to eight. After trading baskets, five straight by the Ducks made it a 30-17 game at the end of the first quarter.

Oregon found its outside game in the second quarter hitting four three pointers in the first four minutes to go up 44-21. The Ducks extended their lead and led 58-30 at the break.

Ashley Torres Negron came off the bench and scored the final six points of the half for the Vikings. She ended the game with a season-high 18 points to lead the Vikings. She went 7-for-17 from the floor with a pair of three pointers.

Oregon continued its hot shooting in the second half, connecting on 10 three pointers. Oregon outscored Portland State 64-to-29 over the final 20 minutes to win by a final score of 122-59.

James scored 13 points for the Vikings, all coming in the first half. Freshman F
Pia Jurhar led all players with 13 rebounds in the game. It was Jurhar's third straight double-digit rebound game, fourth of the season. Freshman G
Kian McNair tallied five points and three steals. She has now stolen the ball at least once in every game this season.

Oregon's Lexi Petersen led all scorers with 22 points. Jillian Alleyne had a big presence for the Ducks in the paint, scoring 21 points with 12 rebounds in 24 minutes.

The Ducks improved to 10-0 on the season while the Vikings fell to 1-9.

Portland State closes out non-conference play Sunday, when it hosts the CSUN Matadors at the Peter W. Stott Center. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m. PT.
