MISSOULA, Mont. – The Portland State women's basketball team fell to the Montana Lady Griz, 72-31, Thursday night in Missoula, Mont.
Emily Easom played all 40 minutes for the 12th time this season and scored a team-high 10 points.
Â
The Vikings were without starting point guard, senior
Lariel Powell, for the first time this season. Powell suffered an ankle injury just 10 minutes into their game against Idaho State last weekend. Powell, who averages 4.58 assists this season, was greatly missed as the Vikings recorded just two assists against Montana.
Â
Easom went 4-for-16 from the floor and 2-for-8 from three-point range. It was a relatively clean game with neither team shooting a lot of free throws. Portland State went 2-for-2, a season-low, while Montana went 4-for-4.
Â
The Lady Griz controlled the game from tip-off and shot 51.8 percent from the floor while holding Portland State to a season-low 22.4 percent. UM led 38-18 at the break and held PSU to just 13 points in the second half, also a season low, to win 72-31.
Â
The Vikings will hope to get Powell back for their next game on Saturday when they play the Montana State in Bozeman, Mont. Tip with the Bobcats is slated for 1 p.m. PT.
