Portland State Football will have a new radio home in 2014 as the Vikings can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 620 AM. The Viking Athletic Partnership and Fox Sports Radio have signed a three-year agreement to carry Viking games.
As in the past, Viking football will have a one-hour pre-game show and half-hour post-game show with each broadcast. PSU joins a lineup of great local sports teams that air on 620 AM, including the Portland Trail Blazers, Oregon State Beavers and Hillsboro Hops.
"I and Fox Sports 620 look forward to being the new home of Portland State University Football and working with the Portland State Athletic Department in building the PSU Viking Football brand," said Clear Channel Market President Robert Dove.
Play-by-play man Tom Hewitt will return for his 17th season of calling all the Viking football action. Hewitt recently reached a three-year agreement with the VAP to do Portland State football and basketball play-by-play.
"We believe our move to FOX 620 to be a significant statement to our fans and our community about our commitment to the success of Viking Football," said David Hersh, President of the VAP. "We look forward to growing the Viking empire over this and future seasons on FOX 620.
"Our loyal fans and our future fans will be able to enjoy our terrific broadcaster Tom Hewitt for three more seasons as well."
The Fox Sports Radio partnership will also include a weekly coaches segment with Head Coach Nigel Burton.Â
In addition to the 620 AM signal, fans can hear the Vikings live on the internet at www.foxsportsradio620.com.
All game times will be released soon.
