EUGENE, Ore. – Portland State tied it late but Oregon held on to win 63-56 Tuesday night at Matthew Knight Arena in Eugene, Ore.

Ani Avanessian scored a career-high 12 points to lead the Vikings. Avanessian was 4-for-11 from the floor with a three-pointer. She also went 3-for-5 at the line and pulled down five rebounds.

Avanessian was one of four Vikings to score in double-figures against the Ducks. Junior G
Emily Easom scored 11 points, nine coming from three-pointers, while sophomore F
Lauren Holt scored 11 points with eight rebounds off the bench.

Lariel Powell added 10 points and a career-high nine rebounds for the Vikings. Powell had seven rebounds in the first half alone. Her previous best was five.

Oregon went up by as much as six points in the first half but Portland State was able to chip away at the lead and trailed 30-28 at the break.

The Ducks held a double-digit lead at 45-35 with 13:51 left in the game before the Vikings went on a 9-0 run to get back within one at 45-44 over the next 2:04. It was a one-point game at 54-53 with 4:00 remaining when the Vikings went cold from the floor.

Portland State scored three points over the final four minutes of the game with their last basket coming with 3:10 left.

Oregon hit a late three pointer and a pair of free throws down the stretch to secure the win.

Oregon's Lexi Bando posted a game-high 18 points while Jillian Alleyne posted a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds.

The Ducks out-shot the Vikings .436-to-.358 in the game and improved to 2-1 on the season. The Vikings fell to 0-4.

Portland State returns home for a 1 p.m. matchup with Long Beach State on Saturday, Nov. 29 at the Peter W. Stott Center.
