FOREST GROVE, Ore. ? Portland State claimed first place in four events and scored two more Big Sky Championship qualifiers as the Vikings participated in the Pacific Twilight on Saturday.

Joenisha Vinson became the only hurdler on the women's team this year to meet a conference standard when she took third in the 100-meter hurdles. One week after missing the mark by .01 seconds, Vinson clocked in at 14.71 to easily qualify for the Big Sky meet two weeks from now.

In the 5,000-meter run, Amy Durrance took third and finished in 18:27.25 to qualify for the conference 10k, becoming the sixth Viking woman to meet the 10k standard this year.

Having already qualified in the high jump, Kelsey Kahle improved on her best mark with a height of 5-5.00 in just her second competition of the season, and took first place in doing so.

Two more first-place finishes were claimed by Jernise Saunders, who finished in 12.22 in the 100m and 25.16 in the 200-meter dash. Saunders's time in the 100 was both a stadium and meet record for the Pacific Twilight.

On the men's side, Jason Tait finished in first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.02, just three one-hundredths of a second shy of his best this year.

The other men's conference qualifier to finish in the top three at Forest Grove was freshman Tony Crisofulli, who took third by running 1:54.92 in the 800-meter run.

After this weekend's competition, Portland State has 21 different athletes who have qualified for the Big Sky Championship.

Next weekend a handful of PSU athletes will attend the Oregon Twilight, which will serve as a last chance to qualify for the conference meet on May 13-16.
