PORTLAND STATE VIKINGS

Murrell Announces Signing Of Two Prep Standouts

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland State head women's basketball coach Sherri Murrell announced today the signing of two prep standouts to National Letters of Intent.

Set to join the Vikings next fall are 6-foot forward Allie Brock of Beaverton, Oregon, and 5-foot-11 forward/center Keaton McFadden of Honolulu, Hawaii.

At Southridge, Brock has been a part of one of the top girls high school basketball programs in Oregon, helping the Skyhawks to state titles in 2007 and 2008.

An honorable mention All-Metro League pick last season, Brock was the Division I MVP of the 2009 Class of the Field End of the Trail Tournament after helping her team to the championship.

Said Murrell of Brock: "Allie is going to be a great addition to the Viking team. Allie comes from one of the most successful high school programs in the Northwest and her combination of toughness, competitiveness and basketball smarts will allow her to make a great impact in all positions on the floor."

Brock also participated in the 2008 Nike Skills Camp, which is an invitation-only camp, and was Southridge's team MVP last year.

McFadden is a three-year letterwinner in basektball at Mid-Pacific Institute. She earned Interscholastic League of Hawaii (ILH) honorable mention honors as a freshman, and then was a second team pick last season as a junior. She has also been named to Team Aloha the past two years, which features the top 12 female underclassman basketball players in Hawaii.

"We are so excited to have Keaton join the Vikings," said Murrell. "Keaton has the mobility to play with our up-tempo style and yet brings a much needed physicality to compliment our existing post play. Keaton's play on the low block and knack for rebounding will make her a welcomed addition to this team."

In her junior season, McFadden averaged 12 points, 14 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. She earned all-tourney honors at the Moanalua Pre-season Peek Tournament and the Kalaheo High School Lee Cashman Girls Classic. As a sophomore, she helped Team Aloha win the consolation bracket at the Arizona Elite Spring Tournament.

McFadden is also a standout volleyball player at Mid-Pacific, having been on the varsity squad all four years. She carries a 3.3 cumulative grade point average, and has participated in numerous volunteer activities, including working with the Ronald McDonald House in Honolulu and with the Annual Hawaii Foster Families Christmas party.
