Portland State men's basketball coach Ken Bone has announced the signing of Donatas Visockis to a national letter of intent for the 2008-09 season.

Visockis, a 6-10 center, will transfer from Butte (CA) Junior College, where he played this past season. Visockis averaged 10.1 points per game, 6.5 rebounds, and shot 51% from the field.

"We are excited about adding Donatas to our program at this time, because we are in need of another post player that gives us a presence at both ends of the court," said Bone.

Visockis will give the Vikings depth at the post position after they lost a pair of seniors, Scott Morrison and JR Moore, who filled the role in 2007-08. Bone signed a freshman post, 6-11 Jason Conrad from Gilroy, CA, last fall giving PSU a pair of big men heading into the coming season.

Originally from Siaulia, Lithuania, Visockis attended high school in the United States. He played at Oak Hill (VA) Academy his junior season, then transferred to Cardinal Gibbons High School in Baltimore as a senior where he averaged 11 points and seven rebounds.

Visockis signed with Southern Mississippi and played there during the 2005-06 season, averaging one point and one rebound in 17 games played. He was a redshirt at Southern Miss in 2006-07, then transferred to Butte JC last season.

Visockis joins a Portland State basketball team that is coming off its' finest season in school history. The Vikings were 23-10 and won the Big Sky Conference Championship, reaching the NCAA Division I Tournament for the first time in school history.

The Vikings lost five seniors from that team and have six letterwinners and three redshirts returning in 2008-09. Visockis is the fourth Viking to sign an NLI for the coming season.
