Vikings, Lions Split Again, But Portland State Loses Ground In PCSC Race

PORTLAND ? Portland State split a Pacific Coast Softball Conference doubleheader with Loyola Marymount Sunday afternoon at Erv Lind Stadium, as the two teams split the weekend four-game series. The Vikings (26-26, 9-7 PCSC) won game one 2-0, while the Lions (35-17, 10-6 PCSC) took game two 1-0.

Portland State dropped a game in the conference standings and now trail first-place Saint Mary's by two games with four game remaining. The Gaels swept San Diego in Moraga, Calif., Sunday, winning 8-5 and 2-1. Loyola Marymount, who entered the day tied for first with Saint Mary's, is now in a second-place tie with Sacramento State, one-game behind the Gaels.

In the nightcap, sophomore Melissa Dykema (14-7) also tossed her second shutout of the series, firing a two-hitter in the 1-0 win.
