For the second time in three tournaments, Portland State golfer Stephanie Johns has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week.

Johns, a junior from Ashland, OR, tied for eighth at the 36-hole Boise State Bronco Fall Invitational on Tuesday. Johns shot 75-74=149 in leading the Vikings to a  sixth-place finish in the 12-team tournament played at the SpurWing Golf Club in Boise, ID.

The Vikings beat four other Big Sky teams in the event. Portland State shot rounds of 305-306 for a 611, eight shots back of Boise State, UC Riverside, Wyoming and Santa Clara, who all tied for first at 603.

Johns was also named Golfer of the Week on Sept. 24 after taking medalist honors at the Bulldog/Eagle Invitational in Spokane. She has been the Vikings' scoring leader in three of four fall tournaments. With a 75.63 scoring average through 11 rounds, Johns is on a school record pace (the PSU scoring record for a season is 76.85). All 11 of Johns' fall rounds have been in the 70s.
