Portland State placed 24 athletes, including 14 from the
women?€™s outdoor track and field squad, on the spring
2006 Big Sky All-American team, the conference office
announced Tuesday.
Junior Ashley Quay, who is only the second Viking
woman to reach the NCAA National Championship meet
since the Vikings moved to the Division I level of
competition, was one of the 14 women?€™s track athletes to
earn honors. Quay attended Portland?€™s David Douglas
High School, majoring in Physical Activity and Exercise.
Junior physical activity and exercise major Jordan
Senn, of the men?€™s track and field team, also earned Big
Sky Academic honors. Senn plays football for Portland
State as well as throwing the javelin for the track and field
team.
Another Viking featured on the Academic All-
Conference teams is golfer Haley Brown. Brown, a
sophomore business administration major, this year set a
new Portland State season scoring average of 76.85
strokes per round.
For student-athletes to earn Academic All-Big Sky
honors, they must participate in at least half of their
team?€™s competitions and maintain at least a 3.20 grade
