Amy Denson

Amy Denson is in her fourth year as an assistant women’s basketball coach at Portland State. She works with the team’s post players and assists in team scouting.

Under Denson’s tutelage, forward Courtney West has turned into one of the best defenders and shot blockers in Portland State history. In just two seasons, West has posted the top two single-season blocks marks in program history along with the all-time career blocks mark.

In her first season on the Park Blocks, the Vikings lead the league in rebounding with sophomore Cici West posting a league-best 9.5 rebounds per game and set the Portland State single-season rebounding record with 286 rebounds.

Denson brings extensive professional playing experience to the Park Blocks. She played professional basketball internationally for six different teams, in five different countries (Puerto Rico, Spain, Australia, Romania, and Poland) from 2006-2014.

Denson was twice selected as an all-star while playing in Australia and was a three-time league MVP in Puerto Rico.

Denson played collegiately at Arizona State where she was a four-year starter. She was named to the Pacific-10 Conference All-Freshman first team in 2003 and was a Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention in 2004.
