Roy Love has done it all for the Portland State Athletic Department; first as a player, then coach and foremost as its Director for 18 years. As the head basketball coach for 13 years, he compiled a win-loss record of 257-215. He took eight teams to postseason play, with the 1967 team winning the Pacific Coast College Division. His 1962 team placed second in the nation.

As Athletic Director, Roy spearheaded the PSU move to conference sports for women (Mountain West and Pacific West); football (Western Football Conference); baseball (Northern Pacific and Pac-10 Northern Division); wrestling (Pacific Athletic Conference). 

During his tenure as Athletic Director, PSU teams won four National Championships in volleyball and two in wrestling, five league championships in football and numerous others in baseball and women’s basketball.
