Porter Moves Up To Sixth, Vikings Rise To 11th In Second Round Of Rainbow Wahine Invitational

Kapolei, HI – Viking sophomore Tannica Porter moved into the top 10 of the Rainbow Wahine Invitational on Tuesday and stands in sixth place with one round to play. Porter shot an even-par 72 and is currently one-over par 145 through two rounds. 
 
Porter trails leaders Cassie Kim of Gonzaga (67-73=140) and Andrea Bergsdottir of Colorado State (69-71=140) by five strokes. 
 
Colorado State took the tournament lead at 282-293=575. The Rams lead Gonzaga (282-301=583) by eight strokes with one round to play at Kapolei Golf Course. College of Charleston is at 586.
 
The Vikings improved as a team by four strokes on Tuesday, shooting a score of 308. With a 620 total they moved up one spot to 11th in the 13-team event hosted by the University of Hawai'i. 
 
Porter moved up sixth spots from day one, making four birdies and four bogeys in her round. The 72 matches her personal best at PSU and she is on pace for a personal-best tournament score as well. 
 
Also making a big move up the standings was Tya Seth. The Viking senior shot two-over par 74. She climbed 15 spots from 44th to 29th on the individual leaderboard and is now at 78-74=152.
 
Freshman Payten Shimizu posted an 80 in her round. She is tied for 56th at 158 overall. Sophomore Mari Nakamura shot 85 and her 163 total is tied for 69th.
 
Freshman Bayler Brundage has posted 83-82=165, and junior Mariana Garcia Rosette is at 87-87=174.
