LOGAN, Utah – The Portland State men's tennis team fell Sunday morning by a score of 6-1 to Utah State at the Logan Sports Academy and Racquet Club in Logan, Utah.
“It was a good first match at altitude for us this year,” head coach
Jay Sterling said. “We wanted to play at altitude before opening conference play at Idaho State on Sunday. The ball gets on you a little bit faster and travels a little further in the thinner air. I was really happy with our effort and we're ready to take care of business against Idaho State.”
The Vikings dropped the doubles point by losing all three doubles matches.
Roman Margoulis and
Mitch Somach fell as the No. 1 doubles pair by a score of 8-3 as did
Abhinav Mishra and

Somach, playing in his first dual of the season, picked up his first match victory of the season. He won the first set by a score of 7-6, which he won in a tiebreaker by a score of 13-11. He then went on to win the second set by a score of 6-4.
