Portland State center
Mitch Gaulke has been named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 team for Division I football as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Gaulke, a sophomore from West Linn, has started every game this season for the 6-3 Vikings. He is part of an offensive line that has blocked for the top running game in the Big Sky Conference, and fifth-best running game in the nation at the NCAA I FCS level. Gaulke is majoring in Business Administration: Accounting. As a first-team All-District selection he will now be on the national ballot for Academic All-America.
To be eligible for Academic All-District/All-America, student-athletes must be sophomore standing or higher, a significnat contributor to their team, and maintain a 3.30 GPA or higher. District 8 encompasses the majority of states in the western region.
