Vojnovic Earns Second Career Big Sky Player of the Week Honor

PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland State's Marija Vojnovic has been named the Big Sky Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 2.

The senior outside hitter helped the Vikings to a pair of road wins at Montana and Montana State this past weekend. Both of the victories were sweeps and kept Portland State in first place in the Big Sky standings at 10-2.

Vojnovic, who prepped at nearby Gresham High School, averaged 4.00 kills, 3.17 digs, 0.50 service aces and 4.67 points, while hitting .339. She racked up 24 kills and had just four errors on 59 attempts.

On Friday at Montana, she registered her seventh double-double of the season with a match-high 12 kills and 10 digs. She also chipped in two block assists and a match-leading 13.0 points, and hit .300.

Vojnovic followed that up with a 12-kill, nine-dig performance at Montana State the next night. She hit .379, and led all players with three aces and 15.0 points.

This is Vojnovic's second career honor and the third of the season for the Vikings. Senior setter Nique Fradella was a back-to-back winner early this year (Sept. 7 & 14).

Portland State (16-7) is back in action this Friday when they host Eastern Washington (15-8, 9-3 BSC) in a battle of two of the conference's best teams. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Peter W. Stott Center.
