About Portland State Softball:
The Portland State softball team won the 2009 Pacific Coast Softball Conference title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament under first year Head Coach Tobin Echo-Hawk.
It was the Vikings second PCSC title in the past four years (2006 was the other) and also the school's second-ever postseason appearance since moving up to Division I competition in 1999.
Echo-Hawk was honored as the PCSC Coach of the Year for her efforts after the Vikings were tabbed to finish fourth in the preseason coaches poll. Seven players earned all-conference recognition, and senior Jackie Heide was named the PCSC Co-Player of the Year, while sophomore pitcher Nichole Latham garnered the conference Pitcher of the Year award.
The Vikings home field is one of the best facilities in the conference, Erv Lind Stadium. They play a top-notch preseason schedule, and during the 2009 season the Viks played in tournaments in Arizona, California, Florida, Nevada and Washington.
