MEN'S BASKETBALL, 1969-72
Willie Stoudamire was one of Portland State’s all-time great scorers. Prior to Freeman Williams, Stoudamire held the PSU season scoring record, averaging 30.1 points in 1971-72. Included was a 50-point game against Nevada. His career scoring average of 24.6 points ranks second all-time at PSU. Stoudamire’s 1,845 points came in just three seasons of play. He was the team’s Most Valuable Player in 1970-71 and 1971-72. Stoudamire was named NCAA Division II West Region Player of the Year and Associated Press Little All-Coast in 1971-72. Portland State was 42-29 in his three seasons on the court, 33-14 the final two years.
