WRESTLING, 1952-54
Lee Allen had a brilliant wrestling career during and after his time at Vanport (soon to be Portland State). Allen was undefeated in college competition, and led PSU to four wins over Oregon and Oregon State. He was named AAU All-Coast in 1953 and 1954 and National Greco Champion in 1954. Credits after college included being a US Olympic team member in 1956 and 1960, National Freestyle Champion in 1957 and 1961, US Army European Champion in 1958 and 1959 and fifth at the World Championships in 1961. Allen was the Head Coach of the Olympic Greco Team in 1980 and served as a Head Coach or Assistant Coach for the Olympic or World team seven times.
